MSNL Daytime Back to Netball Sessions – Now Running at the Triangle, Burgess Hill
MSNL’s new daytime ‘Back to Netball Sessions’ are now running at the Triangle until 19 March 2012. The sessions take place on Monday mornings from 10am to 12 noon (excluding 13 Feb for Half Term). These sessions focus on ‘real basics’ where the aim is to encourage new ladies to come back to netball by giving them the chance to learn the current rules, develop their skills and techniques and take part in friendly games. Each session costs £3.50 on a pay as you go basis. The ultimate aim is to recruit more teams to join the MSNL to help ensure the League’s longevity for everyone.
Participants that use the Triangle creche receive a 50% discount on the creche between 10.am-12noon. Ask at Reception when you book.
Netball is one of the most popular female team sports in the world and, as such, has a huge UK following from players & supporters alike. However, as with numerous sports, many women who have played at school, college and University cease playing following education or childbirth. This is where England Netball’s national initiative to introduce ‘Back to Netball’ training sessions has made a real difference because it has encouraged so many women to return to netball across the country.

End of Round 2 – Update
At the end of Round 2 Jo’s Angels are still (impressively) at the top of the League table. But, with Round 3 starting in January all the teams have a lot to play for. The standard of match play has risen throughout the Season & Round 2 saw some very close matches indeed. Our newest team, Hurst, have certainly enjoyed their debut season and have made several teams work hard for the wins they have have had against Hurst. Both Jo’s Angels and Phoenix have found themselves digging deep at times which has made their performances exceed expectations in the more closely fought games. Hassocks Honeez are enjoying their best season yet and, whilst both Red Roos and Sapphires both struggled early on in the Season, they have both recently enjoyed more impressive performances that have earned them valuable points in the League table.
Looking ahead to January when we usually experience some colder weather, please can we remind all teams of the importance of a thorough warm up prior to match play & the need to have team first aid available court-side. Our Accident Guidelines can be found under the ‘Rules’ section of this website & we ask all teams to familiairise themselves with these.
Round 3 dates in 2012 are: 11 Jan, 18 Jan, 25 Jan, 1 Feb and 8 Feb.
Finally, we would like to thank all teams for their involvement in MSNL & hope you all have a well-deserved & fun break over Christmas. We are all keenly awaiting Round 3 and the fresh competition that will bring so we look forward to seeing you all back on court in the New Year.
Congratulations to the Sapphires
Who won their first match of the season against Hurst. The scoreline was very close at 33/30. Both teams played extremely well and there was a real buzz amongst the players of the type you can only get when two teams are quite evently matched. Hurst have decided to get a second set of bibs as their colours were very similar to Sapphires and I’m sure that some passes went to the wrong players.
The Jo’s Angels / Honeez match but again was very close at 22/20, well done to both teams. Someone has to beat the amazing Jo’s Angels this season. Who is it going to be?
We were all glad to see the Red Roos playing as they’ve really struggled to get a team together recently with lots of injuries.

MSNL Celebrates Success
The Mid Sussex Netball League is now in its third successful year having formed as a result of local Back to Netball sessions in May 2009. The League plays competitive matches on Wednesday evenings at St Paul’s Catholic College in Burgess Hill.
At the moment there are 6 teams playing in MSNL’s Winter League, with ladies from 19 years of age to their mid-fifties taking part. Run by a committee of volunteers it is widely felt that getting ’Back to Netball’ and joining this League has made a real
difference to lots of ladies. Everyone is there because they love the sport and want to improve fitness and skills. Netball is a very active sport and just one hour of playing can burn up to 660 calories.
Fond Farewell to Tarra
All teams have paid tribute to Tarra Richardson who has recently stepped down as Chair of the League. Over her 2 year tenure as Chair, Tarra has led the set-up and development of the League, ensuring its appeal and success across the community.
MSNL Hoodies Now Available
