Umpires with mentors
An important decision has been made regarding new umpires requiring coaching and mentoring.
Mentorship is an essential part of a new umpires development and therefore the mentor will receive the £10 umpire payment and not the developing umpire. Each mentor is an extremely valuable asset to the league so we hope you all support us in the decision.
Back to Netball – Update
Thank you to all ladies who supported our ‘Back to Netball’ project over the last few months. We were delighted with the number of players who attended the sessions & are looking forward to welcoming all the new teams into the Summer League, starting on 2nd May 2012.
At present, MSNL are not planning any further Back to Netball sessions but will post details on this site should that change.
Umpiring
Many thanks to all those who attended our recent Beginners/Refreshers Umpire Course held on 15th April. The course was a great success & we all look forward to welcome all the new umpires in the Summer Season.
Sun Shines on MSNL at our Spring Tournament
Mid Sussex Netball League brought new & current teams together in a Spring Tournament held at the Triangle on 24th March. Teams played a round robin of 8 matches each with some impressive play across the board. League giants Jo’s Angels dominated the day without losing a single match & securing first place. The surprise of the day were underdogs Sapphires who showed dramatic improvement to secure 2nd place, losing only to Jo’s Angels. Tournament teams also included Phoenix, Red Roos, Hassocks Honeez, Storm Dolly Mixtures & Southwater. It was a great showcase for how the League has developed, welcoming ladies back to netball from across Mid Sussex.
Presentations on the day included tournament winners (Jos Angels) & Runners Up (Sapphires), plus Winter Season winners (Jo’s Angels), Winter Season Player of the Match (Natalie) & the Team players from the last year. Huge congratulations to all teams & players & huge thanks to everyone for supporting this event.
Results from 25/01/12 now online
The results from last nights league matches are now online. 4th & 5th places are very close with the Red Roos on 28 points Hurst with 25. We will have some very exciting matches over the next couple of weeks. Click here to view the results.
Congratulations to the Sapphires
Who won their first match of the season against Hurst. The scoreline was very close at 33/30. Both teams played extremely well and there was a real buzz amongst the players of the type you can only get when two teams are quite evently matched. Hurst have decided to get a second set of bibs as their colours were very similar to Sapphires and I’m sure that some passes went to the wrong players.
The Jo’s Angels / Honeez match but again was very close at 22/20, well done to both teams. Someone has to beat the amazing Jo’s Angels this season. Who is it going to be?
We were all glad to see the Red Roos playing as they’ve really struggled to get a team together recently with lots of injuries.
MSNL Celebrates Success
The Mid Sussex Netball League is now in its third successful year having formed as a result of local Back to Netball sessions in May 2009. The League plays competitive matches on Wednesday evenings at St Paul’s Catholic College in Burgess Hill.
At the moment there are 6 teams playing in MSNL’s Winter League, with ladies from 19 years of age to their mid-fifties taking part. Run by a committee of volunteers it is widely felt that getting ’Back to Netball’ and joining this League has made a real
difference to lots of ladies. Everyone is there because they love the sport and want to improve fitness and skills. Netball is a very active sport and just one hour of playing can burn up to 660 calories.
Fond Farewell to Tarra
All teams have paid tribute to Tarra Richardson who has recently stepped down as Chair of the League. Over her 2 year tenure as Chair, Tarra has led the set-up and development of the League, ensuring its appeal and success across the community.
